“Doctor Who” season 11 has been moved to a new day slot in the UK, sending Australia’s schedule on a spin. The ABC, which airs the British sci-fi series, has promised to air the latest episodes of the show’s new season immediately after it airs in the UK.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that the new timeslot for the show would be moved from Saturday to Sunday on the BBC. It had been aired on Saturdays in the UK for so long that it had become a tradition. However, the change was necessarily reportedly as to not clash with another show’s programming. Saturday evenings from September to December are reserved for the live broadcast of the British reality competition show “Strictly Come Dancing,” which prompts “Doctor Who” to move a day later.

In Australia, the show is often aired Sunday, immediately after it airs in the UK. But with the change in the British timeslot, it would mean the Australian airing would also change.

An ABC spokeswoman said Australian Whovians would still be able to watch the series immediately after the UK airing, just not on free channel.

“Following the BBC UK’s announcement of ‘Doctor Who’ moving to Sunday nights, the series will be available on demand on ABC iview immediately following the UK’s broadcast,” the rep was quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald as saying. “The series will also air on Monday evenings on ABC. The move to Monday evenings will not impact our news and current affairs programming.”

She did not say what time on Monday evening would the show air on ABC.

“Doctor Who” season 11 will introduce the show’s first female Doctor. Jodie Whittaker will play the 13th incarnation of the Gallifreyan Time Lord. She was introduced at the Christmas Special last year when Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi regenerated into Whittaker.

The Thirteenth Doctor will be joined by her new companions, Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Graham (Bradley Walsh). The show will premiere on Oct. 7 in the UK with the time still yet to be announced.
