Prince William’s solo trip to Africa has made his wife “immensely jealous.” The Duke of Cambridge has revealed that Kate Middleton, who was left in England with their three children, wasn’t so happy that she did not get to come with him.

William is currently in an African tour alone in an effort to raise awareness on the Illegal Wildlife Trade being hosted by the UK Government. The Duke, who is strongly against the killing of wildlife in Africa, is working in his capacity as President of United for Wildlife and Patron of Tusk Trust during his visit to Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya.

While at the British High Commissioner’s reception in Namibia on Wednesday, the Duke said that he was “delighted to be visiting Namibia for the first time.” It’s not just the beauty of the place that he was excited about, though. The father-of-three quipped that he was looking forward to having continuous sleep while in the country. His Duchess, who is still officially on maternity leave after giving birth to their son Prince Louis in April, was not too happy that she did not get to accompany her husband to his African tour, though.

“She is immensely jealous, particularly as I am looking forward to a few good, uninterrupted nights of sleep this week away from my wonderful children,” the prince quipped.

It’s not the first time William went on a solo trip and Kate wished she had gone, too. In June, William, while on tour of the Middle East, spent time in Jordan, where Kate and her family used to live when she was a young girl.

“She loved it here, she really did,” William said of Kate. “She is very upset that I am coming here without her.”

William was visiting the ancient Roman ruins in Jerash with Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdulla II when he was presented with a blown-up image of young Kate with her sister, Pippa, and their father, Michael Middleton, posing at the same site.

Prince William will return to Kenya on Sunday to visit 1st Battalion the Irish Guards Battlegroup, which will be training in the country under the British Army Training Unit (BATUK). Kenya was also where he proposed marriage to Kate in 2010.
